Pope Francis appoints bishop for Prelature of Infanta in Quezon province

"As bishop of Infanta, Cortez will administer an ecclesiastical jurisdiction with almost half-a-million population, 87 percent of which are Catholics from 20 parishes," the CBCP said.
The CBCP said the diocese had been vacant since November 2012, when Tirona was named Archbishop of Nueva Caceres.
Cortez, 65, was ordained in June 1974. He had served in San Pablo diocese in Laguna.
Now-Saint John Paul II appointed him as Auxiliary Bishop of Manila in May 2004.
Congratulations on new assignment
Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle congratulated Cortez on his new assignment and wished him well.
“He has testified to the need for prayerfulness and a profound respect for the conditions and sensibilities of human persons in pastoral life. We are grateful to Bishop Bernard for having served wholeheartedly the faithful, priests, religious, and seminarians of the Archdiocese of Manila,” Tagle said.
He urged the faithful to pray for Cortez and his ministry.
“Let us also pray for the Prelature of Infanta as it continues to respond to numerous pastoral challenges, especially those related to authentic human development, the situation of indigenous peoples, and stewardship of creation,” he said. — Joel Locsin/ELR, GMA News

Using the fingers on your hand, start with the thumb and pray these intentions in this order:1.) The thumb is closest finger to you. So start praying for those who are closest to you. They are the persons easiest to remember. To pray for our dear ones is a "Sweet Obligation."
2.) The next finger is the index. Pray for those who teach you, instruct you and heal you. They need the support and wisdom to show direction to others. Always keep them in your prayers.
3.) The following finger is the tallest. It reminds us of our leaders, the governors and those who have authority. They need God's guidance.
4.) The fourth finger is the ring finger. Even though it may surprise you, it is our weakest finger. It should remind us to pray for the weakest, the sick or those plagued by problems. They need your prayers.
5.) And finally we have our smallest finger, the smallest of all. Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself. When you ate done praying for the other four groups, you will be able to see your own needs but in the proper perspective, and also you will be able to pray for your own needs in a better way.
