Should You Be Kind To Bad People?

One day, an American, a Russian, and a Filipino were talking.

The Russian said, “We were first in space!”

The American said, “We were first on the moon!”

The Filipino said, “So what? Haven’t you been reading the newspaper? Our economy is doing very well. Mark my words, the Philippines will be a First World country. And we will be the first one on the sun!”

The Russian and the American looked at each other and shook their heads. “You idiot, you can’t land on the sun!” the Russian said, “You’ll burn up!”

The Filipino said, “I’m not stupid, you know. We’ll go there at night!”

Friend, God is kind.

And the kindness of God is like the sun. It’s always there for you, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Bible says His steadfast love is new every morning.

Perhaps you’re having problems right now.

And you don’t feel the kindness of God.

Your marriage isn’t doing well.

You’re under a mountain of debt.

Your kids are going astray.

Your body is sick.

When we have problems, we don’t feel the kindness of God.

But it doesn’t mean that God isn’t kind.

It just means it’s nighttime, but God’s kindness is still shining.

In another part of your world, it’s daytime!

Soon, your night will pass. Your trials will pass. Your burdens will pass. And you’ll see the first rays of the morning sun break through the darkness of your problems.

God Is Kind To The Wicked

The Bible says that God is kind to bad people (see Luke 6:35-36). We somehow know this already, but it still jars our sense of “justice”.

One day, some brilliant men were debating about what makes Christianity different from other religions. The discussion was heated and lively, with all sorts of answers being raised.

That was when the great thinker and apologist, C.S. Lewis, entered the room. The men turned their attention to the late comer and asked him, “So Lewis, what makes Christianity different from other religions?”

He looked at them and said one word.

“Mercy.”

When he spoke, everyone remained quiet.

The debate was over.

What is mercy?

Mercy is undeserved kindness.

We believe God is kind to those who do not deserve His kindness at all. In another part of the Bible, it says, When the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy (Titus 3:4-6).

I’m sure you know the shocking story below…

God Is Kind To The Guilty

One day, a woman caught in adultery was brought before Jesus by religious men who hated him and wanted to trap him.

You see, according to the Old Testament Law (Leviticus 20:10), she should be put to death.

These religious leaders thought their plan to trap him was a full-proof plan.

Here’s why.

If Jesus said, “Stone her,” they would accuse him of sedition against the Roman Empire—because their Roman rulers took away the power of capital punishment from the Jews.

Now if Jesus said, “Free her,” people would say, “Jesus is going against Moses and our religion!”

But Jesus didn’t choose any of the two options.

Instead, Jesus said, “He who has no sin throw the first stone.”

Some (not all) Biblical scholars translate the original statement in a more radical way. They believe Jesus said, “He who has no equal sin in this same area cast the first stone.” Meaning? “He who hasn’t committed adultery—or any other sexual sin of the same degree—throw the first stone.”

Guess what?

All the guys there walked away.

Everyone had fallen into some type of sexual sin!

Beginning with older men first, the accusers dropped their stones and left.

When they were alone, Jesus declared to the woman one of the most powerful statements of the Bible. He said, “Neither do I condemn you—go and sin no more.” (John 8:11)

Note. Jesus didn’t say, “Sin no more, and I will not condemn you.” (In other words, deserve my forgiveness by doing something!)

Yes, other religions will say that.

But not Jesus.

God’s mercy is undeserved kindness.

If you read this story, you realize that the woman never once asked for forgiveness! The forgiveness of Jesus was given.

Here’s the truth: Forgiveness isn’t the result of Repentance. Rather, repentance is a result of forgiveness.

He said, “I don’t condemn you—now go and sin no more.”

He loved first.

He forgave first.

He bestowed kindness first.

That’s what the Bible says, God’s kindness leads you toward repentance (Romans 2:4).

Dump The Scare Tactics

Repentance comes when God’s kindness invades our soul.

Change of heart is a spontaneous result of being loved!

I admit.

This kind of thinking is still very difficult for some Christians to grasp. Some priests and preachers still use “scare tactics” to frighten us to be good boys and girls. They terrify us with the horrors of Hell. Even the question some Evangelists use can be a scare tactic: “If you were to die right now, where would you go?” It may still use fear as the motive for change.

I can’t blame people for thinking this way.

In fact, let me give you some biblical history.

The most ancient manuscripts of the Gospel of John—the original documents—had this powerful story of the woman caught in adultery in their pages.

But do you know that other ancient copies of John omitted them?

Why? Biblical scholars have a hunch.

They believe that the copyists were so afraid that this story would become a license to sin for their readers. So they omitted this controversial story all together.

Their probable question: If God is this good, why bother being good?

But that’s precisely why Christianity is different.

Jesus wants you to be good not because God is frightening but because God is kind.

Receive God’s Kindness

Do you need the kindness of God today?

Right now, you may feel like that woman brought before Jesus. Perhaps people are condemning you. Perhaps you are condemning yourself.

Even before you ask for forgiveness, God already forgives you. Even before you repent of your sin, God already embraces and says, “Allow my embrace to change your life.”

Show The Kindness Of God

And do you want to bless your life?

And do you want to bless your spouse? Your kids? Your siblings? Your friends? Do you want to have enriching, solid, strong relationships?

Be kind.

Show the kindness of God.

The kindness of God is so powerful, it changes the life of both the receiver and the giver.

Both The Receiver And The Giver

Are Changed

Once upon a time, a handsome young man was riding his horse. He was twenty years old, a soldier, and a son of a rich businessman. Because his father adored him, he gave him lots and lots of money. And the young man spent it on parties and princesses and other pleasures.

But on that fateful day, he saw a leper, begging on the road. The leper had ugly, open sores oozing with pus all over his body. The young man was filled with revulsion.

He turned away his eyes.

But he could not turn away his heart.

Something in him was drawing him to the leper.

It was the kindness of God.

He didn’t know why, but he went down from his horse, and approached the leper. And he did a crazy thing, something he never did in his entire life. He gave all his money to the leper.

But he did something even crazier.

He held the leper’s hand—or what was left of it. Most of his fingers were gone. It was covered with scabs, wounds, and pus. The stench was revolting. The young man brought the leper’s hand close to his lips—and kissed it.

And that moment was the turning point of Francis of Assisi.

What changed his life?

When he gave the kindness of God.

I repeat: The kindness of God doesn’t only change the receiver. It also changes the giver.

If you want to change your life, give the kindness of God away.

Mother Teresa remembered, 100 years on

A solemn mass kicked off a day of remembrance Thursday on the birth centenary of Mother Teresa, known as the "Saint of the Gutters" for her life's work with the sick and destitute of Kolkata.

The mass, presided over by Cardinal Telesphore Placidus Toppo of Ranchi, was held at the headquarters of the Missionaries of Charity -- the order of nuns that Mother Teresa founded in this eastern Indian city 60 years ago.

A message from Pope Benedict XVI was read out at the mass, which drew around 1,000 people, hundreds of whom had to stand outside the packed chapel.

Afterwards, the nuns who succeeded Mother Teresa, Sister Nirmala and the current head of the order, Sister Prema, released some white pigeons as a symbol of peace and compassion.

"I am confident that this year will be for the church and the world an occasion of joyful gratitude to God for the inestimable gift that Mother Teresa was in her lifetime and continues to be through the affectionate and tireless work of you, her spiritual children," the pope's message read.

Mother Teresa, a Nobel peace prize winner and now Roman Catholic saint-in-waiting, was born on August 26, 1910 to Albanian parents in what is now Skopje in Macedonia.

As Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu, she arrived in India in 1929 and two years later took her first religious vows as a nun and adopted the name under which she would achieve worldwide recognition.

As well as Kolkata, Thursday's anniversary was to be marked in the three neighbouring Balkan states of Albania, Macedonia and Kosovo -- all of which lay claim to a slice of the Mother Teresa legend.

Saturday, 28 August 2010 : Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 25:14-30.

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 25:14-30.It will be as when a man who was going on a journey called in his servants and entrusted his possessions to them.
To one he gave five talents; to another, two; to a third, one--to each according to his ability. Then he went away. Immediately
the one who received five talents went and traded with them, and made another five.
Likewise, the one who received two made another two.
But the man who received one went off and dug a hole in the ground and buried his master's money.
After a long time the master of those servants came back and settled accounts with them.
The one who had received five talents came forward bringing the additional five. He said, 'Master, you gave me five talents. See, I have made five more.'
His master said to him, 'Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities. Come, share your master's joy.'
(Then) the one who had received two talents also came forward and said, 'Master, you gave me two talents. See, I have made two more.'
His master said to him, 'Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities. Come, share your master's joy.'
Then the one who had received the one talent came forward and said, 'Master, I knew you were a demanding person, harvesting where you did not plant and gathering where you did not scatter;
so out of fear I went off and buried your talent in the ground. Here it is back.'
His master said to him in reply, 'You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I did not plant and gather where I did not scatter?
Should you not then have put my money in the bank so that I could have got it back with interest on my return?
Now then! Take the talent from him and give it to the one with ten.
For to everyone who has, more will be given and he will grow rich; but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.
And throw this useless servant into the darkness outside, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.'

Family Ministries

FAMILY LIFE RENEWAL

An offspring of one’s personal renewal and the deepening of relationships between spouses is the call to bring Christ to the other members of the family. The CFC Family Ministries is Couples for Christ’s response to building the Church of the Home. The family ministries look to the spiritual dimension of our life in the Lord. It focuses on internal formation and is designed to help us grow in holiness of life.

CFC Kids for Christ, CFC Youth for Christ, CFC Singles for Christ, CFC Handmaids of the Lord and CFC Servants of the Lord provide a support environment for every member of the family. A person moves form one ministry to the next, as his state of life changes. Thus, the whole life of a person while on this world is covered.

CFC Kids for Christ (KFC) aims to provide a Christian support environment for children of CFC and non-CFC who are between the ages of 4-12 years old. Owing to the wide age range covered by the ministry, we have separate programs for the Junior kids, those of ages 4-8 and Senior kids, those of 9-12.

Realizing that a program for kids needs to be simply understood, exciting and fun-filled, we have put a premium on four characteristics of the KFC Program.
It is fun – activities are enjoyable and stimulate the child’s creativity, perception and sensitivity.
It is build upon friendship – activities encourage members to build strong friendships with one another.
It enhances faith – activities explain Christian faith elements in kids language
It allows free but responsible expression – activities respect the kids for who and what they are and what they can be.

Entry point to the CFC Kids for Christ program is through a KFC Kid’s camp. Other dynamic activities such as Kid’s Village, Eco Camp, Champ camp, kid’s assemblies and family fun day follows after. http://cfckidsforchrist.com

CFC Youth for Christ (YFC) aims to provide a Christian support environment for young teenagers between 13 to 21 years of age.

The program is oriented towards meeting the needs of our young people to belong, to be motivated, to be useful, to be good examples, to be Christian witnesses. It has put a premium on four characteristics: it is Fun; it builds Friendships; it enhances the Faith; it allows the young Free, but responsible expression.

YFC's future is directed towards giving the youth a worthwhile cause to support as we seek to address, in our small way, the plight of the poor and the less privileged and the social and environmental issues that trample on the youth's human dignity: abortion, drugs, fraternity violence, sexual immorality, corruption and even the rape of our natural resources.

Entry point to the CFC Youth for Christ program is through a Youthcamp. Pastoral formation is being given to the youth after the camp through household meetings, assemblies, teachings and trainings, international conferences, youth forums and other interesting and dynamic activities dedicated to the wholistic development of the youth.

CFC Singles for Christ (SFC) aims to provide a Christian support environment for single men and women who are at the crossroads of their state of life, choosing between marriage, a religious vocation or single blessedness.

SFC as a support environment:
teaches the individual the right values to build their future in;
surrounds the individual with friends who are well meaning and have a positive influence;
provides the individual with opportunities to meet potential partners in life who believe in the same Christian goals and values;
involves the individual in service that prepares them for the responsibility of marriage and family life; and
helps those with a vocation for the priesthood or religious life to discern their calling.

Entry point to the CFC Singles for Christ program is through a Christian Life Program (CLP). Pastoral formation is being given to the singles after the CLP through household meetings, assemblies, teachings and trainings, international conferences, discernment seminars, Singles Enrichment Retreat and many more teachings directed towards the maturing needs of young, single individuals.
OFFICIAL WEBSITE: http://sfcglobal.org

CFC Handmaids of the Lord (HOLD) aims to provide a Christian support environment for single mature women, widows, separated or divorced, single parents, wives of overseas workers, and those whose husbands are incapacitated or in prison.

HOLD’s formation program teaches that:
the woman is a beautiful creation of God, chosen for greatness and designed for excellence;
while loneliness, rejection and fear in their lives are real, they have a God who loves them and cares for them through community;
to fully experience a life of joy and fulfillment, they need to heal, forgive and decide to be happy and productive; and;
by serving other women whose circumstances are similar to theirs, they thank God and gain empowerment.

CFC Servants of the Lord (SOLD) aims to provide a Christian support environment for single mature men. It is a parallel ministry of the CFC HOLD but directed towards the mature men.

Entry point to the CFC Handmaids and Servants of the Lord program is through a Christian Life Program (CLP). Pastoral formation is being given separately to both ministries after the CLP through household meetings, assemblies, teachings and trainings, international conferences, Enrichment Retreats and many more teachings directed towards the needs of matured men & women of Christ.

Christian Life Program

What is the Christian Life Program (CLP)?

The CLP is an integrated course intended to lead the program participants into a renewed understanding of God's call to them as Christian couples. It runs for a total of 13 separate sessions, usually held once a week. Most sessions consist of three basic ingredients: a teaching, a group discussion, and a time for fellowship. Each session would normally last for about 2 1/2 hours.

What are the goals of the CLP?

The CLP has two basic purposes: evangelism and spiritual renewal.

To evangelize is to take the basic message of Christianity and to proclaim it anew so that those who hear it can make a renewed commitment to the Lord in a way which will allow them to receive a fuller experience of the work of the Holy Spirit in their lives.

Spiritual renewal works in three ways:
For the individual, it brings a person into a stronger relationship with God by discovering and living more fully the power and gifts he or she received through the Holy Spirit.
For the family, it brings married couples to a renewed commitment to Christian family Life and it starts to build up a community of committed Christian families.
For the Church, it brings people within a particular parish to a fuller experience of life in the Spirit. Consequently it strengthens and revitalizes community life in the parish.

What is the content of the CLP?

The CLP runs for a total of 13 consecutive sessions usually held weekly, divided into an orientation session and then 3 modules of 4 sessions each. The topics of the 12 sessions are:

Module No. 1: THE BASIC TRUTHS ABOUT CHRISTIANITY

1. God's Love
2. Who is Jesus Christ?
3. What it means to be a Christian.
4. Repentance and Faith. Faith

Module No. 2: THE AUTHENTIC CHRISTIAN LIFE

5. The Christian Ideal: Loving God
6. Loving Your Neighbor
7. The Christian Family
8. Life in the Holy Spirit

Module No. 3: LIVING A SPIRIT-FILLED CHRISTIAN LIFE

9. Receiving the Power of the Holy Spirit
10. Growing in the Spirit
11. The Life and Mission of the Couples of Christ
12. Transformation in Christ

What is the content of each of the above teachings?

"GOD'S LOVE" speaks about God's wanting to bring us out of the confusion and disorder that is being experienced in the modern world, and to bring us all back to Himself, to restore our fellowship and intimacy with Him. There is something seriously wrong with the situation of the world today, and behind most of the disorder and evil is Satan. Only God can bring us out of this, and He has done it by sending His own Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to suffer and die for us. Salvation has come to us in Jesus.

Realizing the absolute importance of this person Jesus Christ in our salvation from sin and Satan and our return to God, we naturally would want to know more about Him. And so we ask the question, "WHO IS JESUS CHRIST?". Being Christians, we just naturally take for granted our conviction that Jesus is the Son of God. But is he really worth paying attention to? Shouldn't he be on the same level as Buddha, Confucius, Mohammed, Socrates, or other wise men or moral teachers? Jesus was unique and has had a greater impact on the course of human events more than any other person. But what really set him apart was his claim to be God, which none of the other founders of great world religions ever claimed. With this claim, we can only look upon him as either a liar, a lunatic or in fact the Lord.

If we come away with the conviction that Jesus is indeed Lord, then we are confronted with his life and his words which demand a response from us. If we as Christians are to carry his name, then we need to live in a way that acknowledges his lordship over us. And so we want to learn " WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A CHRISTIAN." This talk first dispels misconceptions or wrong notions about Christianity. It points out what it is not. Then it shows that the essence of Christianity is union with God, made possible through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. What makes us Christian is our loving, personal relationship with God, and our whole life becomes an expression of this relationship.

God has loved us. God sent His Son to die for us. He has gathered us unto Himself as His people. Christianity is something that God has initiated, unilaterally and unreservedly. In the light of all these, our proper response is "REPENTANCE AND FAITH." And this is a double?action response. Repentance and faith go together. Repentance involves a turning away from sin, wrongdoing and running our own lives, and a turning to a life of obedience to God. Faith, in turn, is belief in Jesus as our personal Savior.

The above four talks form the first module of the CLP, and has presented the absolute basics of Christian life. It is basically Christian theology. The next module, consisting of another four sessions, presents the kind of life that God calls us to. It spells out the personal response involved in receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior and helps couples to make a reorientation of their lives around Jesus.

The second module starts out with a talk on "THE CHRISTIAN IDEAL: LOVING GOD." It is an explanation of the first and greatest commandment. It explains in detail what it really means to love God above all with all our heart, with all our mind and with all our strength.

The next talk deals with "LOVING YOUR NEIGHBOR," which, together with loving God, forms the core of the Christian life. The talk contrasts God's love with the world's idea of love. Love is not only having positive feelings, not always saying "yes", not being defensive, not self?seeking or manipulative. Rather, Christian love is connected with keeping God's commandments and means a self?sacrificial love, best exemplified by Jesus himself. On the practical level, Christian love means service love. It is committed service to our fellow men.

Being a family?oriented ministry, we then have a talk on "THE CHRISTIAN FAMILY." Here the importance of the family in God's plan is stressed. The family is intended by God to be the basic unit of society, and as such, it is to be a place for teaching and training children and also the place for training leaders. But God's plan for our families is not happening, because God has lost His central place in the family, because the family itself is losing its importance, because of the fast life, and finally because the family is under attack by evil forces. The talk ends with practical advice on what can be done to build up a strong Christian family.

Finally, after learning what this new life that we are called to really means??love of God, love of neighbor, building a Christian family??we look at the one ingredient that makes it all possible. And that is the power from above which enables us to live a "LIFE IN THE HOLY SPIRIT." True Christian living is not just a matter of human will power but a new heart, a new life from God. The Holy Spirit enables us to experience God, a living relationship with Him and His action in our lives. With the Holy Spirit, men again experience union with God and gain a new nature, spiritual power and power to serve.

The third and final module helps the couples to commit their lives in a serious way to Jesus Christ. And first of all this involves "RECEIVING THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT." This first session of the third module is essentially a prayer session where the participants are prayed with for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in their lives. Some would term it the baptism in the Holy Spirit.

Then, recognizing that the baptism in the Holy Spirit is only a beginning, there is a need to learn more about how to grow in the life of the Spirit. Thus the participants are taught the basic means for "GROWING IN THE SPIRIT." And the four basic tools for growth are prayer, study, service and fellowship.

Fellowship refers to almost everything that Christians do together as a body. It is the concretization of the spiritual reality that we belong to the same family. We do not become complete Christians by ourselves. And here we come to the need for coming together with other committed Christian families for mutual support and encouragement. Here is presented "THE LIFE AND MISSION OF THE COUPLES FOR CHRIST." It gives the history of CFC, its statements of Mission and Philosophy, and a description of how support for Christian family life is carried out. An invitation to consider and pray about joining CFC is issued.

Finally, the last session wraps up the whole Christian Life Program which has started the process of "TRANSFORMATION IN CHRIST." The participants are encouraged to persevere and live out actively the new life in the power of the Holy Spirit. And though the CLP has come to an end, the new life is just beginning. In order to grow, much more is needed. There is a need to learn more about the Christian life. There is a need for the strength and support of others. There is a need for a situation in which the couples can learn how to serve the Lord. Thus the couples are invited to join COUPLES FOR CHRIST. For those who have decided to do so, they make their commitment to CFC and are welcomed into the body.

IS THERE ANY COST INVOLVED?

There are no fees or any monetary expenses required of the participants. The only investment required is their time and their openness.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE CHRISTIAN LIFE PROGRAM?

The household meeting is held in the homes of the group members on a rotation basis. A typical meeting would involve some time for prayers, a time for sharing or discussion, and finally, some time for fellowship. It would normal last about 2.5 hours.

After the CLP, those who finish are invited to join Couples for Christ. When they do, they are made part of a small cell group called a household. The household is composed of from 5 to 7 couples who meet weekly for mutual support and encouragement in the Christian life under the direction of a household leader.

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 22:34-40.

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 22:34-40.

When the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together, and one of them (a scholar of the law) tested him by asking, Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest? He said to him, "You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments."

Who is Saint Clare of Assisi?

Sister Moon to Francis' Brother Su"Always be lovers of God and your souls and the souls of your Sisters, and always be eager to observe what you have promised to the Lord."

Fix your gaze on our saints."

Great Mystic - Role Model - Incorrupt

Saint Clare of Assisi was truly Saint Francis' partner in Christ. She was the first female member of the Franciscan community. She fought against the whole Franciscan community, including popes, to maintain the original Rule of Saint Francis. After his death, she spent the rest of her life caring for her ladies. She would not even die before her rule for the Poor Clares was approved by the Pope.

Clare is a role model for all women in headship, not exclusively of the Church, but especially of the Church. She may very well have been placed on this earth to be a prototype for Superiors of Religious Communities, male and female, for centuries to come. Clare could easily be the standard bearer for anyone who would lead a community of people, whether it be a Religious Community, as Superior, or a country, as President, Dictator, or King. And her philosophy was not new, or complicated. It was simple. "Love one another as I have loved you."

Blessed as a Catholic!

A Full Transcription of Steve Ray's talk to Couples for Christ

(Steve K. Ray is a convert to Catholicism from the Baptist Church. His story of conversion is chronicled in his book “Crossing the Tiber.” He and his wife go around the world telling the story of his conversion and of their belief that the Roman Catholic Church is the one true Church. This is the full transcription of the talk he delivered during the Mission Core Teaching Night, July 13, 2010, Xavier School Gym.)

Good evening. It’s wonderful to be here. I’m a charismatic, too. I’m also a Couples for Christ and there’s my couple right there. Stand up, Janet. I’ve been married to that girl for 33 years – that’s the best thing I ever did. The second best thing I ever did was to become a Catholic. We have four children and eight grand children and they have names like Maria Faustina and Damian Augustine and so on – very Catholic names.

Social Media for Evangelization Workshop: A Tweeting, Blogging Faith

The undeniable call now is to take our faith online through the social media. To rephrase Erik Qualman: It's not a question of whether CFC will do social media, but how well CFC does it. CFC sponsored a workshop last July 1 at the CFC Center in Ortigas about the white-hot issue of social media and evangelization. At the end of the day, it was obvious that the jam-packed meeting hall of about 50 or more people would never look at Twitter, Facebook and blogs the same way again.

Faith Problems

The resource person, Fr. Jboy Gonzales, SJ, first talked about the deficiencies of our faith and why social media can open up the so-called “digital continent” to Christ. Fr. Gonzales, SJ, who happens to be the head of the Jesuit music ministry is also a known blogger and media personality.

Pope Benedict XVI encouraged all believers to see the internet as “the new mission area.” Through a video that encapsulated the power and promise of the social media, the workshop participants realized that if CFC wants to ride on the snowball effect that web presence has given to global brands and culture icons, then it has to start tweeting and blogging.

Some facts from the video seemed to stress the point even more:
If Facebook were a country, it would be the third largest.
2 out of 8 married couples in the U.S. met through social media.
Using social media has now replaced pornography as the #1 online activity.

The social media has, by its very nature, the potential to make our expressed, online faith the very opposite of what it has been criticized to be. Twitter, Facebook, blogging, posting photos can make the Catholic faith informed, personal, social, missionary and inculturated.

Fr. Gonzales, SJ also gave some tips on how to get started evangelizing online:
Decide on content. What is it that you could share to the world?
Decide on a platform. Will the blog be a serious blog, a photo blog, an anecdotal blog? Focus on your strength and use it.
Choose a scheme. Will you mostly use photos? Personal experiences?
Provide good content. People will come back to you, if they find substance.
Be consistent. Blog or post on a regular basis and not just when you feel like it.

At the end of the workshop, the participants who were mostly CFC full-time pastoral workers, a handful of students and several CFC leaders, seemed all psyched to be online missionaries. Let's get the world saying, Christ is online!
