Don't bring jewelry or expensive gadgets to the public events of Pope Francis.

This was one of the pieces of advice the Department of Health issued over the weekend in time for the papal visit from Jan. 15 to 19.

"Iwasang magsuot ng mga alahas at magdala ng mamahaling gadgets," it said.

Also, the DOH warned against littering in the public areas during the papal events.

Other dos and don'ts include:

Dos
- Bring your own food to avoid getting hungry. Make sure the food will not spoil easily.
- Wear comfortable clothes.
- If you are sick or have disabilities, make sure you have a companion.
- Bring medicines if you have high blood pressure or are diabetic.
- Know where the medical stations are.

Bringing children
- If bringing a child, make sure he or she is accompanied by an adult.
- If with a child, make sure the child has a piece of paper with information on where parents could be contacted in case he or she gets lost.

- Candy or chocolate to counter dizziness.
- Water container that does not break easily.
- Food that does not spoil immediately.
