Tithing
Tithe Purpose
Given to immediate body of Christ of which one is a part and where one draws support for one's Christian life
*Ex: ICC and SFC

Given to support the work of the Lord
Scriptural Basis
We rob God if we don't tithe.

For "food in God's house."

Generosity to "open the floodgates."
CFC - SFC
Tithing is not part of the SFC covenant, but it is certainly an essential part of our life as a growing Christian

1 Corinthians 4:7

"Name something you have that you have not received. If then, you have received it, why are you boasting as if it were your own?"
Proverbs 10:22

"It is the Lord's blessing that brings wealth, and no effort can substitute for it"
Proverbs 3:9

"Honor the Lord with your wealth"
Psalm 24:1

"The Lord's are the earth and its fullness; the world and those who dwell in it"
10% of income after taxes
Malachi 3:7b-10

"Since the days of your ancestors you have turned aside from my statutes and have not kept them. Return to me, that I may return to you, says the Lord of hosts. But you say, "Why should we return?" Can anyone rob God? But you are robbing me! And you say, "How have we robbed you?" Of tithes and contributions! You are indeed accursed, for you, the whole nation, rob me. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse. That there may be food in my house. Put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, and see if I do not open the floodgates of heaven for you, and pour down upon you blessing without measure!"
SFC tithes pay for:

Evangelization
Support for missionaries
Formation of members
Community activities
Administration
Donations
Purchase of assets as needed
International mission
In Conclusion...
Be generous - Give, Give, Give!

Even our Lord paid taxes

Share with the Poor

Remember the floodgates God promised us
Matthew 17:22-27

"When they came to Capernaum, the collectors of the temple tax approached Peter and said, "Does not your teacher pay the temple tax?" "Yes," he said."
Activity
In a month, how much do you spend on:
Food
Rent/Housing
Clothing

Cell phone/Technology
Tithing
Others
It's the right thing to do

God's work needs money, God Himself does not!

Don't focus on the 10%, but on the 90% we keep for ourselves!
Let's not lose the proper perspective
